SOUTH JORDAN, UT – Fifteen-year-old Alisa Petrov, who had been missing since April 21, has been found safe and in good health, authorities confirmed Sunday evening. The teenager was located after she presented herself at the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Officer Shaun Becker of the South Jordan Police Department (SJPD) shared the positive news with ABC4.com, expressing relief that Alisa was unharmed. Her family released a heartfelt statement thanking law enforcement, the FBI, news organizations, and the public for their support and prayers throughout the search.
Timeline and Investigation Details
Alisa was last seen when she was dropped off at a school in American Fork but instead boarded a train heading toward Provo. Investigators uncovered online communications between Alisa and three men, suggesting she was attempting to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Following the discovery, police charged three men in connection with her disappearance:
- Matthew Nicholas Menard, 35, of Miami, Florida, who turned himself in on May 28. He faces charges including aggravated child exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor, and criminal solicitation. Menard appeared in Provo Court on June 2 and will have a waiver hearing on June 9.
- Samuel Mitchell, 41, of Herriman, Utah, charged with felony sexual exploitation of a minor and enticing a minor, with an initial court appearance scheduled for June 4.
- William Taylor Glines, 37, of Texas City, Texas, remains at large with an active warrant issued for his arrest.
