High-Speed Chase in Millbrook Ends with Two Arrests, Power Outage, and Loaded Firearm Recovered

MILLBROOK, AL —
A high-speed police pursuit through Millbrook on Friday evening ended with two Montgomery residents in custody, a downed power line, and the recovery of a loaded firearm, authorities confirmed.

The incident began on June 13 when Millbrook police attempted a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Alabama 143 and Alabama River Parkway. The driver, identified as Anastasia T. Philpot, 27, allegedly fled the scene in her 2022 Nissan sedan, reaching speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, according to police.

Dangerous Maneuvers, Public Risk

Philpot reportedly raced eastbound on the Alabama River Parkway, reaching the toll bridge before making a U-turn and accelerating westbound at similar speeds. At one point, police say she nearly struck another vehicle before losing control of the car, which left the roadway and crashed into a power pole and guidewire.

The collision caused a localized power outage, which was later resolved by Alabama Power crews who repaired the damaged lines.

“This could’ve ended much worse. We’re fortunate there were no serious injuries or collisions with innocent motorists,” said Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson.

Arrests and Charges

Philpot was taken into custody without incident or injury at the crash site. Her passenger, Jasmyn J. Johnson, 21, fled the scene on foot but was apprehended outside a nearby business shortly after.

Charges include:

  • Anastasia T. Philpot:
    • Felony attempting to elude
    • Reckless endangerment
  • Jasmyn J. Johnson:
    • Attempting to elude

Both women were booked at the Millbrook Police Department before being transported to Elmore County Jail, where they await bond hearings.

Loaded Firearm Recovered

Chief Johnson also confirmed that a loaded firearm was recovered from inside the vehicle, though additional charges related to the weapon have not been announced as of Monday.

“We’re continuing our investigation into why these individuals fled and whether any other charges may apply,” Johnson added.

Community Impact

No injuries were reported, but the brief power outage caused by the crash affected local businesses and homes. The chase raised safety concerns for residents in an area that is no stranger to heavy weekend traffic near the river and toll bridge.
