Kelvin Joseph, a former Dallas Cowboys cornerback, has been released from jail after being accused of causing a crash in Texas that killed a female motorcyclist.
According to the Richardson Police Department, Joseph, 25, has been charged with DWI and a collision resulting in personal harm or death.
Around 4.50 a.m., authorities arrived to the incident in Plano, Texas, on the 2400 block of US 75. The victim, Cody Morris, 27, was discovered dead. There were no other automobiles or persons nearby.
According to police, Joseph called the department an hour later to report being involved in the crash.
When authorities arrived at his location, they said they “observed signs of intoxication.” He was subsequently arrested. Officials placed his bail at $1,000 for DWI and $25,000 for collision resulting in death. He was released on bond on Sunday.
According to CBS News, Joseph is thought to have been driving a BMW northbound when he allegedly hit Morris, the mother of two children and wife.
The Dallas Cowboys selected Joseph in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and he spent two seasons with the organization.
According to investigators, he was declared a person of interest in a fatal shooting at a nightclub in Dallas’ Lower Greenville in 2022. Joseph was cleared when police apprehended two suspects.
In 2023, the Cowboys traded Joseph to the Miami Dolphins. He then went on to play for several teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs. He joined the United Football League in February 2025, signing with the DC Defenders.
