Five Hospitalized After High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash on Route 24 in Taunton

TAUNTON, MA — Five people are recovering in the hospital after a white BMW X5 crashed following a high-speed chase with Massachusetts State Police on Sunday night in southern Massachusetts.

The chase began when troopers attempted to pull over the vehicle, which was reportedly traveling over 100 miles per hour on Route 24 southbound, according to a State Police spokesperson. Rather than stopping, the driver fled, accelerating to speeds near 130 mph, prompting a pursuit.

The vehicle ultimately crashed in Taunton, where troopers and first responders quickly arrived on the scene. All five occupants of the BMW were treated for injuries and transported to area hospitals. Police say all five are currently in stable condition.

Investigation Ongoing

The identities of the individuals involved have not yet been released, and charges are pending, according to police. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the chase and crash, including who was driving at the time.
